Not All Himbos Wear Capes has been on my TBR for a while now and I’m absolutely kicking myself for not reading it sooner. This story is the superhero/villain MM romance I didn’t know I needed, but now I need it like oxygen… I am obsessed. OBSESSED. At the time of posting, this is book one of a five-part series, Villainous Things. Book two, Gentlemen Prefer Villains, came out in March of 2023, and book three is projected for a summer 2023 release.
I flew through this book, read the sequel, then came back and read them both again!

POV & Tense: Dual POV, first person, past tense
Genre: Superhero Science Fiction, MM Romance
Tropes/Themes: Secret Identities, Fated Mates, Grumpy/Sunshine, Mutual Obsession, Bisexual Awakening (and sub awakening!), Light Dom/Sub with Daddy Kink
Synopsis:
Hero Butch (Captain Masculine) and villain Xander (Doctor Antihero) meet on a dating app for normies. Because supes don’t know each other’s civilian identities, they each think the other is a normie. Xander doesn’t do relationships, but he can’t help the borderline psychotic possessive streak he feels for Butch—and Butch just wants to be a good boy for his Daddy. Their relationship may progress faster than a speeding bullet, but their respective hero/villain families have ulterior motives…
Forget bi-awakening, I had a full on sub-awakening on my hands, and I had never been more here for anything in my entire goddamn life. Come. To. Daddy.”

My Review:
Not All Himbos Wear Capes is a highly addictive treat of a novel that I couldn’t put down. And when I was forced to (because real life always gets in the way—how rude!), I was thoroughly annoyed. So. Good. I loved the dynamic between Butch and Xander; I am so here for couples that meet and slot together like puzzle pieces, complimentary and necessary to each other’s existence.
Butch and Xander’s character arcs were fabulous. At the start of the novel, Butch is a hollow husk of a man going through the motions, selflessly serving his city and pleasing everybody but himself, while Xander, a self-indulgent semi-psychotic narcissist without a shred of empathy (except towards sea turtles), is holed up at his secret lair plotting to rid the world of… microplastics. Their meet-cute is both adorable and hilarious (both online and when they meet in person). Watching Butch open up and unfurl under Xander’s commanding tone and praise feels so satisfying (the poor guy is finally given permission to take something for himself), and equally satisfying is Xander’s horrific realization that he might be capable of feeling something for someone else, and possibly doing good in the world (how horrible!).
Apparently, ‘possessive psychopath’ was my love language.”

I didn’t understand why he’d choose to torture himself. Especially when that’s my job.”

Final Thoughts:
I finished Not All Himbos Wear Capes feeling thoroughly amped up and looking forward to Wolfy’s story (the Gentlemen Prefer Villains review is coming soon—it’s another banger). As I said earlier, I just had to read Himbos again. I can confirm it’s just as good (if not better) the second time around.
If you like fun, quirky, spicy fiction with hot dudes in lycra, then you’ll love this book. I highly, highly recommend.
It’s you and me, and everyone else can go fuck themselves. Sound good?
Those goddamn dimples appeared as he tried not to smile.
